MEDIATION TRAINING – 40 HOURS
Discount offered to members of minority bar organizations

A Message From: Yolanda Jackson, Deputy Executive Director & Diversity Director

I want to share a unique opportunity with you, your bar members and colleagues.
There is a heightened interest in mediation among lawyers of color in the Bay Area and I say it is about time! I have personally been meeting with several lawyers interested in becoming mediators. As you may know, I had my own mediation and arbitration practice before I joined BASF. In fact, I became interested in starting my own ADR practice after I took Ron Kelly’s 40-hour training through UC Berkeley several years ago. Needless to say, it was an excellent course.

What:
BASF has now partnered with Ron Kelly to provide his world-renowned 40-hour training course to BASF members and to members of the local minority bar organizations. In short, we want to see more diverse mediators in the Bay Area. Therefore, we are delighted to offer this course to members of local minority bar associations for a special discount rate of $850.

Why:
Most mediators will tell you that in order to achieve success in this business you should start with the basic 40-hour training. In addition, all local court ADR panels require that you have this type of 40-hour training, in addition to a certain number of mediations or co-mediations in order to qualify for their panels. Keep in mind, that even it you are not interested in becoming a mediator, this course is extremely helpful when you represent your client in mediation.

In addition, we have partnered with JAMS to offer to any participants in this course, the opportunity to participate in the JAMS shadow program which will allow participants of this course to sit-in on and observe mediations held by JAMS mediators.

How:
Please register for this course today! Please see the attached flyer for more information. To register at the special rate, call Marilyn King at 415.782.9000 x8787.

Space is very limited in order for each participant to get the most out of the training, so I urge you to sign up early.

Please call me if you have any questions at 415-782-9000 x8736. Also, Ron Kelly is more than happy to chat with you and he can be reached at (510) 843-6074 or ronkelly@ronkelly.com.
