IP & Product Counsel, The Climate Corporation, San Francisco, CA

With a focus in intellectual property (IP) and as a registered patent attorney, Laurie has counseled high-tech clients including independent inventors, start-ups and public companies, providing support to all levels of management.  As IP & Product Counsel for The Climate Corporation, Laurie’s work with R&D, product, engineering, and marketing teams encompasses a wide range of legal matters including licensing, contract negotiation, privacy laws, federal regulations, HR & employment law, and international expansion. 

Laurie has advised clients on patent portfolio development and strategies in various technological fields including software, high-performance computing, storage, wireless network devices, e-commerce, cloud computing/SAAS, social media, mobile applications, and computer and video gaming. Laurie graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and earned a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley. Prior to practicing law, Laurie worked as a Criminalist Intern for the SFPD Crime Laboratory. 

Laurie lives in Daly City with her husband, Al, and the loves of her life – Kyle Rebecca (6) and Immanuel Agape (8 months).  Outside of work, she is committed to serving the community through volunteer work for non-profits.  In addition to FBANC, Laurie is a founding member of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA) and serves as a Board Member for the Mission Hiring Hall.  She is also a committee member and immediate past Co-Chair for the In-House Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area (AABA).
