Governor Brown Appoints Laurie Lubiano To The Medical Board of California

Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. Appoints FBANC President Laurie Lubiano to the Medical Board of California

On December 13, 2018 Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. announced the appointment of FBANC President Laurie Rose Lubiano to the Medical Board of California.  Ms. Lubiano was appointed as a public member of the board and her position requires Senate confirmation.  The Medical Board of California has 15 members, 8 physicians, 5 public members appointed by the Governor, 1 public member appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly, and 1 public member appointed by the Senate Rules Committee.

Since 2017, Ms. Lubiano has served as IP & Product Counsel for the Climate Corporation. She was General Counsel & Director for Business Development at Birdi & Associates, Inc. from 2014-2016 and Patent Counsel for Silicon Graphics International Corp. from 2012-2014.  Before going in-house, Laurie practiced patent prosecution and litigation for mid-size law firms in the silicon valley.  Laurie graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and earned a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley. Prior to practicing law, Laurie worked as a Criminalist Intern for the SFPD Crime Laboratory. 

Outside of work, Ms. Lubiano is committed to serving the community through volunteer work for non-profits.  In addition to serving as the current President of FBANC, she is a founding member of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA) and serves as a Board Member for the Mission Hiring Hall.  She is also a committee member and immediate past Co-Chair for the In-House Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area (AABA). Ms. Lubiano also served over 4 years as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Daly City holding Chair and Vice Chair positions.
