Annual Dinner

Annual In-Person Celebration Postponed; Swearing-In and Law Student Scholarship Awards to Go Forward

FBANC President-elect Mari Bandoma Callado is leading the charge to adapt our annual gala to fit this year’s circumstances.

  • FBANC Annual Gala Postponed. We regret to announce that the June 11 Annual Gala will be postponed. Although we hope that the pandemic will have subsided by then, fundraising and other activities will be undoubtedly disrupted in the lead up to June. We are planning on rescheduling for the fall.
We will celebrate and recognize FBANC’s 40th Birthday.
  • FBANC Elections and Swearing-In Ceremony. FBANC will still hold its elections for its new Board and will swear them in in a virtual ceremony in June. Although delayed, FBANC plans to open up its election portal next Wednesday, March 25.
  • FBANC Foundation Law Student Scholarship Awards.  Mentorship Directors Antonio Raimundo and Maria Segarra are continuing to move the FBANC Foundation’s scholarship programs forward, with law student applications being solicited and processed.

Comprised of over 400 attorneys and law students spread across Northern California, the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (“FBANC”) invites you to support its momentous 40th Annual Gala on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Saint Joseph’s Arts Society in the heart of SOMA Pilipinas, San Francisco’s Filipino Heritage District.

This year’s theme is Pamana or Legacy, as translated in Tagalog. The Gala will elevate and highlight FBANC’s  four-decade-long commitment to diversifying the legal profession and to serving the SF Bay Area Filipinx and Filipinx American community.  This event will also kick off the annual mid-year summit of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association, a national organization comprised of the nation’s Filipinx and Filipinx American attorneys and judges.

The Gala will bring together over 200 leaders for an inspiring evening that raises funds for FBANC’s programming, from its free legal clinics to its Foundation’s law student scholarships.

Help FBANC raise $40,000 for the FBANC Foundation

In celebration of FBANC’s 40th anniversary, the FBANC Board has committed funds to start the FBANC Foundation Endowment.  This also kicks off FBANC‘s goal to raise $40,000 for the FBANC Foundation.

Help FBANC raise $40,000 for the FBANC Foundation by donating today and contribute to awarding over $25,000 in scholarships to future lawyers, including the inaugural FBANC Foundation’s Honorable Eleanor Oducayen Nisperos Women’s Committee Scholarship, which commemorates the first Filipina-American lawyer in California, and the inaugural FBANC/BALIF Joint Scholarship, awarded to a law student who has a demonstrated commitment to the Filipinx American and LGBT communities.

Donations to the FBANC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization (Tax ID 47-2926743) may be tax deductible. For more information on the FBANC Foundation, click here.
