Women’s Committee: Pinay Powerhouse

Established in 2015, the FBANC Women’s Committee was created to provide an independent space where Pinay law students and attorneys can articulate issues and strategize how to engage the Filipino-American community and support Pinay representation in senior and leadership positions.  We aim to provide networking and mentorship opportunities and provide meaningful resources for our members.

Women's Committe Afternon Tea on August 6, 2017

On August 6, 2017, FBANC Women’s Committee held its 2nd Annual Afternoon Tea.  Over sips of tea and bites of lumpia, seventeen women spent their Sunday afternoon in sisterhood, sharing their stories of career highs and lows, challenges, and success.  Judge Elena Gonzales, Executive Director and Chief Administrative Law Judge of California, Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, and Rosielyn Pulmano Thompson, Chief Consultant of the California State Assembly Committee on Health were also in attendance and shared their thoughts and advice on the legal profession.

Thanks to all our sisters-in-law for sharing your time and love in making the Tea a huge success – what an empowering event!  Special thanks to Ruth Catolico Ashley, FBANC Advisory Board Member, former President of NAPABA, and First Filipino to serve on CA State Bar Board of Governors, who graciously hosted the event at the Ashley Villa.  We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Annual Tea!
