The Mission of FBANC is to provide Filipino and Filipino American lawyers and law students in Northern California with professional development and educational assistance. Through the volunteer work of its members, FBANC offers service programs, including regular free legal clinics, professional development programs for attorneys, and mentorship for law students and attorneys. The organization also provides a voice for and advocates on behalf of Filipino American interests in various forums. 

  • Provide professional development programs, facilitate networking, and generate marketing opportunities for FBANC members.

    To achieve this goal, FBANC will:

    • Expand and diversify MCLE programming

    • Increase access to programming and networking to incorporate in person, virtual, and hybrid events

    • Promote and uplift FBANC members within the local and broader legal community

  • Maintain programs geared toward the advancement of Filipino and Filipino American lawyers, law students, aspiring lawyers, and legal professionals.

    To achieve this goal, FBANC will:

    • Optimize mentorship programs and conferences, such as the Komunidad legal conference

    • Diversify partnerships in support of the FBANC Foundation

    • Cultivate leadership and engagement opportunities

    • Expand pipeline efforts to include undergraduate institutions and high schools

  • Provide free legal clinics, services, and resources to the Filipino and Filipino American community and other community stakeholders.

    To achieve this goal, FBANC will:

    • Expand upon its longstanding legal clinics and pro bono services to underserved individuals, local small businesses/entrepreneurs, and others

    • Bolster strategic partnerships and collaborate with non-profit legal providers, community-based organizations, local, state and federal government, and other similar professional organizations

    • Ensure visibility and accessibility of FBANC’s legal support, services, and resources

  • Support, promote, and elevate concerns affecting the Filipino and Filipino American legal community and community at large.

    To achieve this goal, FBANC will:

    • Listen to the community

    • Research and thoughtfully respond to the community

    • Leverage FBANC’s platform to highlight issues affecting Filipinos and Filipino Americans

    • Activate a call to action

  • Operate effectively and efficiently as a non-profit bar association, with an eye toward succession planning and financial sustainability.

    To achieve this goal, FBANC will:

    • Ensure an efficient transition between current and incoming boards, including the transfer of institutional knowledge and best practices

    • Improve and modernize communication methods

    • Strengthen FBANC’s robust leadership pipeline including developing diverse candidates for future boards
