NFALA Announces the COVID-19 Financial Hardship Grant for Law Students

COVID-19 FINANCIAL HARDSHIP GRANT PROGRAM

NFALA announces the establishment of the COVID-19 Financial Hardship Grant Program.

CRITERIA

NFALA Foundation will grant financial aid of up to $500 to (a) registered law students in the United States, (b) who are members of NFALA or any of its regional affiliates or affinity networks, or who have demonstrated prior or current service in the Filipino-American community, and (c) in need of assistance due to COVID-19 related financial hardship.

NFALA Foundation law student grants are made available to students who are enrolled in their Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Laws (LL.M.), or Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) at an accredited U.S. law school. Incoming Fall 2020 law students and outgoing Class of 2020 law students are eligible to apply. International J.D., LL.M., and S.J.D. students are ineligible to apply.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients. NFALA Foundation strongly encourages applications from applicants reflecting diverse cultural and experiential backgrounds, people with disabilities and of diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds, work experiences, national origins, sexual orientations and ages.

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the following materials and save as a single PDF file with your first and last name as the file name:

a. Completed, signed application (DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION HERE)

b. Resume, and

c. Official or unofficial copies of your law school transcript (or for an incoming first-year law student, a statement from your law school certifying that you are a law degree candidate enrolled for Fall 2020 at least part-time). No later than 11:59 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2020, email your PDF application package to scholarships@nfalafoundation.org, with your full name entered in the subject line.
