Candidate for Director:
Angelica Zabanal
As co-director of Professional Development, my goal is to inspire Filipinx and FIlipinx-American law school students and lawyers to have opportunities to develop professionally through exposure to all areas of law practice (nonprofit, private sector, BigLaw, small firm, in-house, alternate careers, judiciary, government, etc.) and to provide access to such opportunities. As someone who has explored a variety of different areas of practice, I hope to impart to others that the legal profession is a “marathon” and not a “race” - that it is okay to swerve as one further discovers their interests and talents.
My plan is to prepare focused panels on legal career pathways in each area of practice and to plan for networking opportunities. WIth my co-director, we will host bi-monthly professional development panels and/or networking events. One particular panel I would like to focus on would be on practical ways to keep one’s options open as a younger developing attorney. I would also love to co-host a panel on mental health and finding balance/fulfillment in one’s career and how to avoid burn-out.
