Candidate for Director:

Dalisai Nisperos

As FBANC Director of Professional Development for the 2021-2022 term, I will strive to advance the FBANC mission and honor this year’s FBANC theme: know history, know self.

Born and raised in Northern California, I am a lifetime member of FBANC and a Senior Associate at the San Francisco office of Jackson Lewis, PC where I represent employers in a variety of workplace labor and employment law matters.  I am an alum of UC Berkeley and a 2010 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. FBANC has been a consistent, and important source of support throughout my legal career and I look forward to serving the FBANC community as Director of Professional Development.

As Director, I will draw upon my past experience designing, implementing, and facilitating educational programming for lawyers in order to bring high quality programming to our membership.  Most recently, as a conference planning committee member, I worked to develop programming for the Pinay Powerhouse IV Conference (March 2021), including a panel which brought together Pinay artists, speakers and thought leaders to discuss the unique experiences of Pinay attorneys in the legal profession.  Prior to this, I developed and presented webinars and trainings including:

  • Panelist, Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession: Racism, Bias and Allyship, California Lawyers Association - New Employment Practitioner Conference, Jan. 2021

  • Panelist and Moderator, Election 2020: Celebrating Kamala Harris & Stacey Abrams (Why Dismantling Anti-Blackness is Necessary for Democracy), Pinay Powerhouse Collective, Dec. 2020

  • Panelist and Moderator, Proposition 16, Affirmative Action & Cross Racial Solidarity, Pinay Powerhouse Collective, Oct. 2020

Over the years I have also participated in or volunteered at numerous FBANC events including our annual gala, annual picnics, Pinay Powerhouse conferences, and our Komunidad Conference for Pilipinx American Law Students (live, virtual).  I am confident that this experience will enable me to be successful.

As Director of Professional Development, I intend to develop programming relevant to the FBANC and Fil-Am community and to collaborate with our community partners and fellow minority bar associations while doing so. To achieve this, I will work with the Co-Director of Professional Development and our committee members to identify timely topics relevant to the FBANC community with an eye toward addressing the many topics that gained renewed interest in 2020.  Additionally, I will proactively communicate with existing stakeholders and partners, as well as potential new partners, to identify opportunities to collaborate in developing programs and to deepen FBANC’s relationships with the broader community. Wherever possible, I will seek MCLE credit for our 2021-2022 programs.  I will also work collaboratively with fellow board members to support FBANC’s other programs and events and to ensure we have a successful term.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support of my candidacy.
