Candidate for Director:

Genevieve Galman

To the FBANC Board and Active Members,

My name is Genevieve Galman and I am a Deputy District Attorney in Contra Costa County. I am first generation Filipina and grew up in the Bay Area. I live in Walnut Creek with my husband, our newborn son and our dog. We love living in Northern California and plan on staying here.

I am running for the position of FBANC Operations Co-Director. As Operations Co-Director, I would strive to successfully run our FBANC shop to help fund our organization’s programs and scholarship awards. I would do so by designing our apparel and accessories and by overseeing our customer orders. I would also assist in promoting our events and accomplishments across our social media platforms. FBANC is an incredible organization and I would be honored to be part of the FBANC Board as Operations Co-Director.

Since high school, it has been very important to me to serve and represent the Filipinx and Asian Pacific Islander community. During high school at Bishop O’Dowd, I founded the Filipino Club and served as President. During college at UC Irvine, I was chosen as Top 30 “Most influential API students at UCI” for my leadership and service to the community, including being the first API student elected as Student Body Vice President of Administrative Affairs.

Throughout law school at USF, I was actively involved in FBANC. I volunteered at the annual installation banquets and participated in several events, including the legal clinics, professional development events, holiday parties and annual picnics. I was also actively involved in the Pilipino American Law Society at USF Law and served as Co-President.

Currently, I am the Secretary for the Northern California Chapter of the National Asian Pacific Islander Prosecutors Association (NAPIPA) and was a NAPIPA scholarship award recipient in 2017. I am also a member of the Asian American Bar Association (AABA) and have volunteered as a guest speaker for several AABA events.

I would love to work with FBANC in its mission to provide Filipinx law students and lawyers with educational and professional support. I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received from amazing FBANC attorneys throughout law school and my legal career, especially from Jennifer Sta.Ana, Ray Rollan, Vanessa Candelaria, Abigail Rivamonte, Laurie Lubiano and the Honorable Benjamin Reyes. As an FBANC Board Member, I would strive to give back by being a mentor and role model to our law students and a supportive and dedicated member of our community.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Genevieve Galman
