Hi everyone! I am asking for your support and vote for a position as a member of the 2021-2022 FBANC Board of Directors, serving as a Social Committee Co-Director. I have served on the FBANC Board of Directors the last two years, currently serving as a Social Committee Co-Director.
The FBANC Board, along with other bar association boards, was faced with adversity this year in hosting events and activities throughout a pandemic. The pandemic provided an opportunity for innovation and creativity in planning remote and virtual social events. FBANC has thrown many successful remote events this year including CLEs and various panels. As Co-Director for the Social Committee, we were able to rise to the challenge and create safe and fun social programming. For the annual gala, we planned a virtual cocktail hour and afterparty complete with a DJ and karaoke. We have also planned and held a few other remote social events including Virtual Trivia Night on filipino-american history, Virtual Holiday Party with a gift exchange and a guest appearance from Santa, and Virtual Game Night, which will take place at the end of March. We also hope to create one more social event for the community before the end of this current FBANC Board term.
My time with the FBANC Board has been very rewarding. It has provided me with the great opportunity to help out the Filipino and Asian community especially during the pandemic where FBANC operated a hotline to assist members of the community with filing for unemployment benefits. It has also given me the opportunity to help mentor and provide advice to the next leaders in our legal community through FBANC’s mentorship program and Komunidad events. These have been very positive experiences for me and I look forward to future opportunities to continue serving my community if re-elected as an FBANC Board Member.
I also look forward to having in-person events again in the near future. I am running for a position as the Social Committee Co-Director because it would be a privilege to plan the first social in-person events for FBANC. I can’t wait to see all of our members and friends in person soon and create social events that all of you wouldn’t want to miss.
