Candidate for Director:
Marrianne Sioson Taleghani
My name is Marrianne Sioson Taleghani and I am Of Counsel at Kaufman, Dolowich & Voluck, LLP. I am interested in and will be running for the FBANC Historian position. If elected as your historian, my overarching goal will be to promote and assist FBANC’s efforts to document and highlight FBANC’s contributions to the community and the overall Filipino-American experience/history in the U.S.
To achieve this goal, I intend to, with the Board’s help and guidance, research and reach out to members of the community. Speaking to former Board members and members (both old and new) who have some historical reference/information will be a critical first step toward achieving this goal. If permitted to do so, hosting events that involve celebrating our history, especially during Filipino-American History Month may also prove valuable and highly relevant to FBANC’s theme of remembering our history. I envision a celebration of our history, either through an awards ceremony or a cultural event which could invite members of the community to participate, be it online or in-person (post-COVID of course).
