Director, Social:

Marjan Abubo

Hi FBANC!

I am Marjan Abubo, a second year environmental and land use attorney, and I am running to serve the community in my role as FBANC's Co-Social Director. Whether it was co-organizing Komunidad, volunteering in legal clinics, or attending the summer picnic, FBANC played a pivotal role throughout my law school career. Attending FBANC events allowed me to put into practice the lawyering skills I absorbed in the classroom and demystify the ins and outs of legal practice. More than that, however, it gave me the avenue to form meaningful and lasting relationships that I am grateful for now as a practicing attorney.

In this role, I anticipate co-creating a space for the Fil-Am legal community to learn, grow, and be affirmed as legal professionals. If selected as a Co-Social Director, I will support the recruitment and retention of FBANC’s membership base to cultivate our community. I envision thinking of creative, engaging, and dynamic opportunities for FBANC members, law students, and the public at-large to come together.

I am confident that I have the experience for this position! I’ve organized and put on impactful programming throughout undergrad and law school, and I enjoy hosting friends during monthly dinner parties. I hope to apply my interest in event coordination and an eye for detail into events that amplify FBANC’s legacy as a community-centered and inviting organization. Even as FBANC continues to move forward through these unprecedented times, I hope to maximize this role so that no one is left behind.

I promise you, my co-Director and I will not disappoint! If you have any questions or have ideas on what FBANC should put on for next year, please reach out at marjanabubo@gmail.com

Maraming salamat!
