Director, Social:

Vannalee Cayabyab

Dear FBANC membership,

My name is Vannalee Cayabyab (she/her), and I am a second-year associate attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.  As a native to the Central Valley, FBANC is my home away from home, so I am honored to be considered for the role of Co-Social Director of FBANC.  Building community has always been important to me.  While at UC Davis for both my undergraduate and law school careers, I constantly tried to find ways to create welcoming and inclusive spaces for individuals like me to grow and be nurtured by like-minded individuals.  As Co-Social Director, I aim to do the same for the FBANC community.

My goals are as follows:

  1. To Help the Community Move Forward:  Moving forward can be a difficult process if one lacks direction or the guidance to figure out the next steps for one’s career.  As a baby attorney, I’m still figuring out my path and what goals I want to set for myself in the years to come.  As Co-Social Director, I hope to provide members the space to find friendship and mentorship outside of work, since such opportunities are far and few between.  Ever since I began attending FBANC events as a law student, I’ve made new friends and mentors and rekindled old connections at each event.

  2. To Have Fun!: The legal profession is a serious endeavor.  While practicing is fulfilling most of the time, it can also be physically, emotionally, and mentally draining.  As Co-Social Director, I hope to engage members in fun activities, similar to the events hosted this past year–from holiday parties to karaoke nights.  At events, I hope members can relieve some stress and create fond memories.  I hope to manifest the collective nature of the Filipinx community among the membership through programming.

As always, I am open to feedback and ideas, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. I’m incredibly excited at the prospect of continuing my journey with FBANC as Co-Social Director!

Thank you so much!

Vannalee
