Candidate for Director:

William Walraven

Thank you for considering me for the position of FBANC Historian Director.

As Mentorship Co-Director this past year, I am proud to have helped plan events to foster the development and mentorship of the future leaders of FBANC. I am seeking your support to continue serving FBANC next year as Historian Director.

Having first joined FBANC while I was still in law school over fifteen years ago and having served as Mentorship Co-Director this past year, I believe I am uniquely connected to both the seasoned and next generations of FBANC.

As FBANC celebrates its 41st year, it is critical that the lessons of the struggles and accomplishments of our community are never forgotten.

One of my goals as Historian Director would be to highlight in the FBANC newsletter (or even a panel co-sponsored with another FBANC director) past events of significant social or historical importance where FBANC members played a pivotal role for the benefit of the Filipinx community and community at large, and also feature past FBANC members and leaders to celebrate their accomplishments.  My hope in doing so would be to not only highlight these past members but also inspire law students and young attorneys to find courage to meet the challenges of today.

To implement this goal, I plan to contact past FBANC Presidents, Board Members and Founders, to ask them about what lessons from the past are particularly important today. Their input and consideration would give credibility to the historical events that would be featured and highlighted to our current members.

If elected I will work to not only focus on past events, but also chronicle our current events, including one day (hopefully within the next year) when we can all gather together in person, safely.

Thank you for your consideration.  I would be honored to have your support.
