Director, Mentorship: Nicolette Rae (Nico) Bencito

I’m excited to formally announce my candidacy for Mentorship Co-Director for the 2025-2026 FBANC Board! I am an Associate Attorney at Kaufman Dolowich LLP and practice with the Employment Law, Professional Liability, and General Liability teams.

As a first-generation law school graduate and attorney, finding community and mentorship through FBANC has been an integral part of my professional and personal development. The guidance, encouragement, and sense of belonging I found in FBANC significantly shaped my legal career. As one of FBANC’s mentorship directors, I am grateful for the opportunity to pay it forward and help the next generation of students and young attorneys navigate their paths to success.

From the start of my legal journey, I learned that mentorship isn’t just about career advice—it’s about building confidence, creating opportunities, and fostering a strong support system. During law school, I served as Co-President of the University of San Francisco’s Pilipino American Law Society (PALS) and Professional Development Chair of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA). As a member of the Bay Area PALS Coalition, I have previously worked alongside FBANC leadership to facilitate virtual events during the COVID-19 pandemic. As one of FBANC’s Operations Director for the 2024-2025 Board, I have also worked hard to connect our members with professional resources, networking events, and career opportunities. These experiences helped reinforced my passion for community-building, and I saw just how impactful these initiatives are to our overall membership.

If elected as Mentorship Co-Director, I aim to strengthen and expand FBANC’s mentorship program to serve our student membership and attorneys at every stage of their careers. This includes building on FBANC’s current mentorship program, organizing student-attorney mixers to cultivate meaningful relationships, working with my co-director to host FBANC’s 7th annual Komunidad Conference, and collaborating with organizations like the Bay Area PALS Coalition to grow our network of support.

I’m incredibly grateful for the mentors who have guided me, and I’m eager to continue that legacy by supporting and empowering future legal professionals. I would be honored to have your support in this journey.

Thank you in advance for your consideration!
