Billy Chan, FBANC President (2005-2006)

Billy Chan is a Partner at Chan + Punzalan, a full-service law firm that provides a wide range of business counsel.  Billy represents individuals and businesses, with an emphasis on commercial contracts and business law.  Billy has been included in the annual list of Super Lawyers for Northern California from 2015 to the present, and as a Rising Star in Northern California from 2009 to 2015.

Billy is the 25th President of FBANC and served on the FBANC board from 2002 to 2006. During his tenure on the board, Billy served as Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President.  While on the board, Billy started several initiatives that carry on to today, including the tradition of having law student emcees at the FBANC installation gala, providing bottles of Hennessy as a sponsor perk, and dinner ticket swaps with other bar associations.

 What FBANC means to Billy:

"FBANC has always been family and home. It's nice to see what other bars do and go to other events, but going to an FBANC event is always like going back home. "

In addition to his service to FBANC, Billy is a Past President of the Asian American Bar Association (AABA). Billy has served as the Chair of the Solo and Small Firm Committee of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), and was previously the Secretary of that organization. Billy is a founding and active member of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA).

Billy has also received multiple awards, including the Unity Award by the Minority Bar Coalition (MBC), the Individual of the Decade Award, Young Filipino Professionals Association (YFPA), and the Service Award from FBANC. 

Billy graduated from UC Berkeley School of Law and earned his bachelor’s degree from UCLA.
