President Leoangelo Cristobal
Leoangelo Cajucom Cristobal (he/him) is the 44th President of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California. Currently, Leo serves as an Attorney III for the California Franchise Tax Board. He represents the agency in tax controversies before the Office of Tax Appeals and advises taxpayers and stakeholders as a subject matter expert on penalties, assessments, and disaster relief. He has an LL.M. in Taxation and is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.
Leo received his B.A. in Communication with Minors in English and Expository Writing from UC Davis. He was an active member of the Fil-Am community and was chosen to be the Fil-Grad Senior Speaker. He received his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law, where he externed for the Hon. Teri L. Jackson, competed in Mock Trial, published for Law Review, and served as PALS co-President. He graduated with Honors, a specialization in Public Interest, and was voted to be the Student Speaker at his Law School Commencement.
Leo’s parents immigrated to the Bay Area from Quezon City in the 1980s. He was born in Oakland and grew up in San Pablo with his older brother and large extended family. Leo first joined the FBANC Board of Directors in 2017. He is a proud prior recipient of the Raymond L. Ocampo, Jr. Family Scholarship, and he has served as a director and executive officer for multiple years, previously as Mentorship Director, Treasurer, and President-Elect.
