Sophia Punzalan - FBANC Var Fox Yerganian Scholarships #2
Sophia Punzalan is a second-year law student at UC Davis School of Law, originally from the Philippines, and immigrated to San Diego in 2019. For her first year of law school, she attended Gonzaga University School of Law. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from UC Santa Barbara with a major in Political Science and a minor in Labor Studies. She serves as a Student Liaison for the Sacramento Filipino American Lawyers Association (SacFALA), Vice President for Communications for National Filipino Law Students Association (NFALSA), Community Outreach Chair for UC Davis Filipinx Law Students Association (FLSA), and Senior Articles Editor for Volume 60 of the UC Davis Law Review. For her 1L summer, she was a federal judicial extern in the Western District of Washington. She interns for a Public Defender's Office and hopes to pursue a career centered on social justice.
About the Scholarship: These scholarships are part of a 5-year $75,000 commitment by Var Fox, dedicated to his parents and in honor of his family to support future generations of legal leaders. Var is Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of Judicate West.
