James Villanueva
James Villanueva is Corporate Counsel at ONE, a financial technology company on a mission to help people live healthier financial lives. His practice is focused on commercial contract negotiation, corporate governance, intellectual property, and privacy. Previously, James worked as Legal Counsel for a payment processing platform based in Santa Clara and as General Counsel for a solar panel installation company in upstate New York. He is a licensed patent attorney and is also licensed to practice law in New York.
James received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with minors in Music and Psychology and was actively involved in the Filipinx community on campus. After undergrad, James attended Albany Law School where he obtained his Juris Doctorate with a concentration in Intellectual Property and was a member of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association and the Managing Editor for Production for the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology.
This is James’ fifth year serving on the FBANC board and he is also currently serving as a Director-at-Large on the board for the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area. Outside of work, James enjoys playing golf and tennis, trying new foods, and the occasional karaoke nights.
