ZyraDanielle Urfano - The Hon. Eleanor Oducayen Nisperos Women’s Committee Scholarship Recipient

Zyradanielle Urfano graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Asian American Studies.

During her time at UC Davis, she was actively engaged in various student organizations, holding leadership roles that reflected her interests. She began her involvement as an intern in Pilipinx in Business and Law, then served as Marketing Chair, and in her final year, held the position of Vice President of Law. To further demonstrate her commitment to social justice, she interned for the Amado Khaya Initiative (formerly known as the Bulosan Center), and the Strategic Asian and Pacific Islander Retention Initiative. On campus, she held a diverse range of occupational positions, including Information Desk Attendant for the Memorial Union, Writing Tutor for the Academic Assistance and Tutoring Center (AATC), Program Assistant for Orientation, and Orientation Leader.

With hopes of attending law school, she intends to apply this upcoming admissions cycle.

Beyond academics, Zyra enjoys collecting trinkets (Smiskis and Sonny Angels), running, swimming, crafting, eating Japanese sweet potatoes, and designing Notion pages.

About the Scholarship: This scholarship commemorates Judge Nisperos, California’s first Filipina American attorney and FBANC’s first President. It is awarded to a college student or graduate applying to law school. This scholarship is in the amount of $3,000.
