California Lawyers Association Awards FBANC for DEI Contributions
The California Lawyers Association (CLA) recognized FBANC with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion award given to organizations that have made outstanding contributions in promoting diversity in the legal profession. The CLA is the statewide voluntary bar association for all California attorneys.
“Each of the honorees represent what all attorneys strive to be – one that uses their influence for the better,” said Jeremy M. Evans, President, CLA. “Honoring these individuals will elevate the expectation amongst all attorneys and legal professionals, that there simply is no limit to the impact we can have to make our communities stronger, brighter, and reflect the uniqueness of our great state.”
FBANC is the first Filipino affinity bar association to be awarded by the CLA. The recognition was based, in part, on FBANC's recent contributions to diversifying the judiciary, the strength of its mentorship program, including the nationally-recognized Komunidad (Community) Conference, the launch of the Bayanihan Stipend for law students experiencing financial hardship, and awarding merit-based scholarships in the total amount of $36,500 at its 43rd Gala.
FBANC President Nelson Pineda Lam and Immediate Past President Raymond Rollan accepted the award at the CLA President's Gala in San Diego on Saturday, September 23.
Thank you to our members, law students, paralegals, paraprofessional, attorneys, judges, and community partners who have elevated FBANC to the incredibly impactful organization it has become today. And special thanks to past President Mari Bandoma Callado who nominated FBANC for the prestigious honor.
