FBANC 42

 

The FBANC 42nd Annual Dinner was held on June 10, 2022 at San Francisco City Hall. The theme for FBANC 42 was FBANC For All, which focused on building upon the tremendous work the organization has done in championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession, increasing pipelines for future leaders of color, and serving the San Francisco Bay Area Filipino/a/x community through access to justice initiatives.

The dinner featured San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu as its keynote speaker. FBANC honored Dr. Robyn Rodriguez with its Jose Rizal Award and Chris Punongbayan with its Trailblazer Award.

The FBANC Foundation awarded $32,000 in scholarships that evening, including the inaugural Carlos P. Romulo Family Scholarship.

FBANC 41

 
 
 

Comprised of over 500 attorneys and law students spread across Northern California, the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (“FBANC”) held its Virtual Installation Ceremony on June 3, 2021.

This year’s theme is Know History, Know Self, which implores all of us to remember our collective histories and struggles as we continue the important work of diversifying the legal profession and serving the SF Bay Area Filipino/a/x and Filipino/a/x American community.

During the ceremony, the FBANC Foundation awarded a record amount of over $32,000 in scholarships (stipends to conferences were unavailable during the pandemic), including the inaugural Ted Borromeo Scholarship.

FBANC 40

 

The 40th FBANC Installation Gala was held virtually on June 11, 2020. That evening, FBANC recognized its Pamana or Legacy, as translated in Tagalog, in celebration of FBANC’s  four-decade-long commitment to diversifying the legal profession and to serving the SF Bay Area Filipino/a/x and Filipino/a/x American community.

During the ceremony, the FBANC Foundation awarded over $40,000 in scholarships and stipends, almost doubling the amount awarded from the previous year.

FBANC 39

 

The FBANC 39th Annual Dinner was held on June 7, 2019 at the Oakland Rotunda Building in Oakland, California. That night, FBANC celebrated being “Commited to Community” and installed its incoming 2019-2020 Board.

The dinner featured The Hon. Benjamin T. Reyes, II as its keynote speaker. FBANC honored EEOC District Director Bill Tamayo with its Jose Rizal Award and Bayanihan Community Center Executive Director Bernadette Borja Sy with its Trailblazer Award.

The FBANC Foundation awarded $23,750 in scholarships and stipends that evening.

 

FBANC 38

 

The FBANC 38th Annual Dinner was held on June 8, 2017 at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco, California. The theme that year was “Uplift and Defend”. FBANC installed its incoming 2018-2019 Board and honored United Playaz Founder and Executive Director Rudy Corpuz, Jr. with its Jose Rizal Award and California LAW Interim Executive Director and FBANC Advisory Board Member Ruthe Ashley with its Trailblazer Award.

The FBANC 37th Annual Dinner was held on June 8, 2017 at the San Francisco Filipino Cultural center in San Francisco, California.  FBANC celebrated the “Genius of Heritage” and installed its incoming 2017-2018 Board.

The dinner featured Diosdado Banatao as its keynote speaker. FBANC honored Filipino Advocates for Justice Executive Director Lillian Galedo with its Jose Rizal Award and NFALA Founder and Past President Rudy Figueroa with its Trailblazer Award.

The FBANC Foundation awarded $18,750 in scholarships.

Homecoming 2021

On Friday, December 3, 2021, FBANC celebrated the times lost due to the pandemic during FBANC 40 and FBANC 41 at Saint Joseph's Arts Society in SoMa Pilipinas. This special FBANC holiday event was hosted by FBANC President Jennifer Sta.Ana and Immediate Past President Mari Bandoma Callado.
