FBANC was honored with the 2020 NAPABA Affiliate of the Year Award and two American Bar Association Awards in 2021. These awards, along with FBANC’s awards from NFALA and PAWIS, were displayed during the event.

Welcome Home!
FBANC President Jennifer Sta. Ana kicked off the festivities with a welcome address, commemorating all that FBANC achieved during the pandemic. On behalf of the FBANC 40 Board and the Pinay Powerhouse, Jennifer presented a token of appreciation to FBANC Immediate Past President Mari Bandoma Callado for her service during the 2020-2021 term.

Recognizing FBANC Volunteers
During Homecoming, FBANC highlighted the contributions of our incredible legal clinic volunteers who were quick to respond to various legal issues that affected our community during the pandemic.
Thank you to San Francisco Supervisor Matt Haney, member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, representing District 6, for the warm welcome to District 6 and SOMA Pilipinas and for recognizing the dedication of FBANC volunteers to serving the community. Matt Haney is a long-time FBANC supporter and volunteered as a guest bartender for FBANC’s Typhoon Haiyan fundraiser in 2013.
2021-2022 FBANC Legal Clinics Directors Melani G. Tioongson and Chloe Ramos Czabaranek presented certificates of recognition to our incredible volunteers who provided over 1600 pro bono hours during the pandemic.

Spring 2020
Together with Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Asian Law Caucus, FBANC offered a 2-month EDD Assistance Clinic. Thanks to the dedication of 74 volunteers, over 1400 pro bono hours were provided to over 500 calllers.

Fall 2020
FBANC offered a 1-week EDD Assistance Clinic with Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Asian Law Caucus and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel. 19 volunteers offered 91 pro bono hours and assisted 24 callers.

Spring 2021
FBANC and the Justice & Diversity Center of the Bar Association of San Francisco offered a free legal clinic on workplace safety, housing, unemployment, family law, personal injury, hate crimes/victim’s rights and criminal defense. 23 volunteers provided 62 hours of pro bono assistance to 20 callers.

Fall 2021
FBANC offered a Small Business and Entrepreneurship clinic with the Lawyer’s Committee of Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area’s Legal Services for Entrepreneurs. 16 volunteers provided 110 hours of pro bono services on contracts, commercial leasing, general business advice, intellectual property and licensing agreements.
Special Remarks by David Chiu
Thank you to San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu for your continued support of FBANC. David Chiu is the first Asian American to lead the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office after being appointed by Mayor London Breed. He was introduced by President-Elect Raymond Rollan.
Celebrating Bill Tamayo’s and Ted Borromeo’s Retirements
FBANC celebrated the retirements of powerhouses Bill Tamayo, one of FBANC’s founding members, and Ted Borromeo, a long-time supporter of FBANC and the FBANC Foundation. Congratulations Bill and Ted!
President-Elect Raymond Rollan, Vice President Nelson Pineda Lam and Vilaska Nguyen paid tribute to their long and successful careers and dedication to serving the community.
Building the Pipeline
FBANC also recognized the graduating class of 2020 and 2021 as well as the recipients of the FBANC Foundation Scholarships from 2020 and 2021. In 2020, the FBANC Foundation awarded over $40,000 in scholarships and stipends, a record for the FBANC Foundation.
The celebration was followed by a fund-a-need hosted by Vilaska Nguyen. Thanks to FBANC’s members’ generosity, FBANC raised $13,550 for the FBANC Foundation.
