Give to the FBANC Foundation to support COVID-19 Relief Stipends
As we announced in March, FBANC has initiated new programs to support our community as it perseveres through the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March, we have rolled out the following a Resource Guide for Community Members to help them navigate the various COVID-19-related resources in the community. FBANC has also supported the community through EDD Form Assistance Virtual Clinics, which has been a labor of love with the Asian Law Caucus, other community organizations, and our Virtual Volunteer Corps.
Today, we are seeking your financial support for the FBANC Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Stipend program, which aims to provide local law students with emergency, needs-based stipends. We have targeted the program to assist our law students with the greatest need, focusing on those who:
Have lost their jobs or anticipated jobs (e.g., summer associate positions) because of the pandemic;
Support their families or other dependents; or
Have incurred unplanned expenses, including for moving, travel, or medical care.
The program will be prioritizing those students who are not receiving sufficient relief from other sources, including unemployment, Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, or school-based emergency grants.
Putting my money where my mouth is, I will be matching the first $500 of any donations that come in this week. We have already heard from several law students who are facing insecurity, and we want to do what we can. Donations to the program will be part of the FBANC Foundation’s $40,000 for 40 campaign, which aims to raise $40,000 for FBANC’s 40th Anniversary.
If you cannot financially support the FBANC Foundation’s stipend program. we ask that you publicize it to law students you may know to get the word out. The deadline to apply is May 20, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.
Thank you for your continued support of FBANC.
