Marc Pilotin Has Been Named as Regional Solicitor of the U.S. Department of Labor
FBANC 2019-2020 President Marc Pilotin has been named as the Western Regional Solicitor of the U.S. Department of Labor, overseeing enforcement of federal worker protection laws in Alaska, America Samoa, Arizona, California, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. He is the first Filipino to acquire a Senior Executive Service (SES) position at the Office of the Solicitor, U.S Department of Labor, a key position just below the top Presidential appointees.
Marc is the second to acquire a SES position in the FBANC family. He follows in the footsteps of William R. Tamayo, who retired from his SES position as the District Director of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in July 2021, after 40 years of serving the community in the public and non-profit sectors.
Marc was General Counsel of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency from 2019-2021, directing the legal affairs of an agency with approximately 200 attorneys statewide and supervising major enforcement actions and the successful defense of various worker protections, including the state’s landmark employment status law. Marc served as California’s Acting Secretary of Labor in 2021.
He returns to the U.S. Department of Labor, where he served as Counsel for Wage and Hour Litigation and a Trial Attorney in the Western Region. Before joining DOL, Marc litigated employment, antitrust, and consumer class actions at Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein.
