Officially launched as part of FBANC 42, the Foundation of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC Foundation) offers the Bayanihan Stipend Program. The Program provides need-based stipends of up to $250 each. Stipends will be available to students currently attending a law school in Northern California or graduates preparing for the bar exam who face significant economic hardship and immediate monetary need that, if not met, could result in an inability to complete classes, a degree program, a bar preparation course, or the bar exam.  To be eligible for a stipend, an applicant must be an FBANC member or member of an affiliate organization at their law school (e.g., PALS).

Situations that have resulted or may result in significant economic hardship that qualify individuals for a stipend include, but are not limited to:

  • Change in household income/support

  • Loss of job

  • Death of an immediate family member or loved one

  • Natural disaster

  • Pending eviction or home foreclosure

  • Burglary

  • Fire

  • Unexpected and significant expense (e.g., health care costs)

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and based on financial need.  Please direct all inquiries to the FBANC Bayanihan Stipend Committee at bayanihan@fbanc.org.  More information on the FBANC Foundation Bayanihan Stipend can be found at http://fbanc.org/foundation.  Please follow the application instructions below.  Submission of this application is not a guarantee of a stipend award.
