Director Jerel Agatep

Jerel Pacis Agatep is an associate attorney at Baker Hostetler in San Francisco. His practice focuses on compliance with data privacy and security protection laws such as the GDPR, CCPA, CalOPPA, HIPAA, FCRA, and COPPA – with particular emphasis on the CCPA and CPRA. He has responded to numerous data security incidents and breaches (ransomware, financial and HIPAA breaches, etc.), handling the life cycle of an incident. Lastly, with his background in employment law, Jerel has established his own niche in workplace privacy, including litigating common law invasion of privacy torts and advising clients regarding COVID-19 remote work and return-to-work privacy pitfalls (i.e., video/audio monitoring, GPS/smartphone monitoring, keystroke software, and biometric temperature scan). He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Jerel received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine.

Jerel was the recipient of the 2016 FBANC Foundation Inaugural NAPABA Convention Scholarship that was held in San Diego, CA.
