2022-2023 WILLIAM R. TAMAYO

COMMUNITY GRANT APPLICATION

FBANC is offering the WILLIAM R. TAMAYO COMMUNITY GRANT in the amount of $3,500 to a community non-profit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. The grant must fund a particular cause or project dedicated to serving the Filipinx and/or Filipinx American community. Applications are due on March 3, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.

ABOUT THE FBANC COMMUNITY GRANT

In 2020, FBANC introduced its inaugural FBANC Community Grant, which awarded $2,500 to a San Francisco Bay Area non-profit to further goals focused on helping the Filipinx and/or Filipinx American community. Last year, FBANC renamed the FBANC Community Grant to the William R. Tamayo Community Grant, in honor of William R. Tamayo, one of the founding members of FBANC who has dedicated his entire legal career to serving others. During its 42nd year and under the theme of FBANC for All, FBANC reaffirms its commitment to community and honors its dedication to providing space for all members and community. FBANC is thrilled to offer the William R. Tamayo Community Grant for a third year with an increased award of $3,500. FBANC recognizes that we are part of a collective effort to raise Filipinx voices and champion our presence where we remain relegated to the margins. We cannot do it alone. We hope to give to inspiring organizations to launch a stronger future together.

Thank you for your interest in the FBANC Community Grant. We look forward to supporting you in your service.

STEP 1:  PREPARE AN APPLICATION PACKET.

A complete application packet must include:

  1. CONTACT INFORMATION SHEET (attached below).

  2. ORGANIZATION’S HISTORY/MISSION AND LOGO (Description of history/mission should be no longer than 2 paragraphs. If selected, the submitted information and logo will be featured when FBANC announces our grant recipient.)

  3. DOCUMENTATION SHOWING NON-PROFIT STATUS

  4. COVER LETTER (no more than one page). Discuss why you are applying for this grant and why you believe a partnership with FBANC is important to you.

  5. GRANT PROPOSAL: Proposals must be double-spaced, no smaller than 12-point type in Times New Roman or similar font and may not be longer than four (4) pages.  In your proposal, please include

  • The specific community issue your organization/project addresses;

  • Project goals to address the community issue;

  • The steps your organization/project will take to achieve goals, i.e. describe specific deliverables or actions you will carry forth;

  • How you intend to measure the impact of deliverables/actions towards your project goals;

  • Current resources available to you and what you still need;

  • How you will use the grant;

  • Data regarding how many people will be served by your project; and

  • Projected timeline of project.

Candidates will be judged on their demonstrated interest in issues affecting the Filipino/Filipina/Filipinx American community, their desire to serve the Filipino/Filipina/Filipinx American community, and their ability to address proposal prompts thoughtfully and concisely.

STEP 2: COMPILE YOUR APPLICATION PACKET AS A SINGLE PDF.

Compile all the materials in your application packet as a single PDF.  Put the documents in number order as listed in Step 1.  That is, the first page of the PDF should be item 1 (the contact information sheet); item 2 (your organization’s history/mission and logo) should start on page 2 of the PDF; item 3 should come after that; and so on.

Name the PDF according to the following naming convention: 2023 FBANC COMMUNITY GRANT_NAME OF ORGANIZATION.pdf.  For example, if your organization was XYZ Alliance, you would name your PDF “2023 FBANC COMMUNITY GRANT_XYZ Alliance.pdf.”

Your PDF must not be larger than 10 MB in size.

STEP 3: EMAIL YOUR APPLICATION PACKET.

Send your application packet in PDF form to FBANC’s Community Outreach Directors, Alyssa Daatio and Jorgio Castro at communitygrant@fbanc.org.

STEP 4: INTERVIEW.

Finalists will be selected to present their project to members of FBANC’s Community Grant Selection Committee at the end of March or beginning of April 2023. We invite you to prepare a powerpoint or slidedeck to best communicate your grant proposal. Please limit your presentation to no longer than 8 minutes.

Any questions?

Please email FBANC Community Outreach Directors Alyssa V. Daatio (alyssadaatio@fbanc.org) and Jorgio Castro (jorgiocastro@fbanc.org)
