FBANC Congratulates Judge Raymonn J. DeJesus
August 26, 2022
FBANC congratulates Raymonn J. DeJesus on his historic appointment by Governor Gavin Newsom to serve as a Superior Court Judge for Placer County.
Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, Judge DeJesus served as an Administrative Law Judge at the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board from 2020 until August 2022. Judge DeJesus previously served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Placer County District Attorneys Office from 2016 to 2020. Judge DeJesus also served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office from 2015 to 2016 and the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office from 2010 to 2015. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco and a Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law. Prior to law school, Judge DeJesus served as an enlisted non-commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1999-2003.
After a discussion with FBANC President Raymond Rollan, Judge DeJesus would like to share the following with the FBANC community:
I am honored and humbled by the Governor’s decision to appoint me to the Placer County Superior Court. Over the course of my career, I have been fortunate to have been able to serve the public as a United States Marine, Deputy District Attorney, and Administrative Law Judge. My experience has taught me that different communities have different needs and concerns. As a result, I believe that diversity and inclusivity are essential in ensuring the justice system is being implemented fairly and that the needs of the entire community, not just the needs of a particular group, are being addressed. Sometimes inspiration can strike upon a simple recognition of possibility. I hope that my appointment to the bench may someday inspire API youth as well as those of other diverse backgrounds to pursue a career in the legal profession. I am extremely grateful to my family who taught me at a young age that everyone can be great because everyone can serve. I am also grateful for exceptional organizations such as FBANC, who continue to represent and advocate for the Fil-Am community in California and beyond. I intend to exercise my new duties with compassion, humility and respect, and I look forward to continuing to serve the Filipino community as well as the public at large as a Superior Court Judge.
As a 42-year-old bar association striving for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession, FBANC looks forward to Judge DeJesus’ representation on the bench and his dedicated service as a judicial officer.
