Our Mission
FBANC was formed in 1980 to provide Filipino and Filipino American lawyers and law students in Northern California with professional development and educational assistance. Through the volunteer work of its members, FBANC offers service programs, including regular free legal clinics, professional development programs for attorneys, and mentorship for law students and attorneys. The organization also provides a voice for and advocates on behalf of Filipino American interests in various forums.

Awards and Endorsements
The Awards and Endorsement Committee is responsible for considering endorsement requests for (1) non-partisan legal advocacy positions (e.g., district attorney, public defender, and city attorney) and (2) bar association positions and awards.
Judiciary
The FBANC Judiciary Committee (“the Committee”) evaluates candidates for judicial positions who seek FBANC’s endorsement for appointments and elections.
Professional Development
The Professional Development Committee creates and organizes professional development programming beneficial to FBANC attorneys and law student members.
Membership
The Membership Committee works to increase FBANC membership by highlighting the benefits associated with being a FBANC member, and helps members become more involved in FBANC and greater community. The Committee also works to connect FBANC members with each other as well as to other Bar Association affiliates.
Mentorship
The FBANC Mentorship Committee serves as a resource for law students, recent graduates, and newer attorneys.
Community Outreach
The Community Outreach Committee aims to provide services to the Filipino American and historically disenfranchised communities in the SF Bay Area. The Committee organizes legal clinics and facilitates community outreach and interactions with local non-profits and organizations as well as other bar associations
Social
The Social Committee organizes various happy hours, the annual picnic, holiday party, and Filipino Heritage Nights with Bay Area sports teams, including the Golden State Warriors, Oakland Athletics, and the San Francisco Giants, throughout the year. We put on events to network, socialize, and have a great time.
Communications
FBANC’s Communications Committee seeks to get the word out about the amazing work FBANC does and work with other FBANC Committees to promote their events and accomplishments across traditional and social media platforms. We work with other FBANC Committees, local bar associations and organizations to promote their events and/or job postings in traditional and social media.
We’re always looking to celebrate your accomplishments, awards, promotions and other announcements. Please email us at announcements@fbanc.org.
Advocacy
This committee reviews and prepares advocacy position statements to provide a voice for and advocates on behalf of Filipino interests in various forums.
In-House Committee
The FBANC In-House Counsel Committee was established to deliver professional development, networking, and mentorship to FBANC’s in-house attorney members. The Committee provides a forum where FBANC in-house counsel can engage in the discussion and exchange of ideas and best practices for their work with legal departments of corporations, organizations, and other institutions. The Committee is also a resource for FBANC members who are considering an in-house career and those interested in building relationships with in-house counsel.
Women’s
Established in 2015, the FBANC Women’s Committee was created to provide an independent space where Pinay law students and attorneys can articulate issues and strategize how to engage the Filipino-American community and support Pinay representation in senior and leadership positions. We aim to provide networking and mentorship opportunities and provide meaningful resources for our members.
LGBTQ
Established in 2016, the LGBT Committee organizes events for our LGBTQ members and allies to increase LGBTQ understanding and cultural awareness. We work closely with other LGBT groups in the SF Bay Area to provide access to “safe” places, people, and forums for confidential discussion, support, and resource information.
